U2 GET TO WORK THIS WEEK
U2 will get together this week to work on some new songs, according to Bono. The famous frontman announced on a U-K podcast by The Guardian, that the band would be getting together this month to work on some new music. Bono will come to the table with some ideas that he?s been working on as he learns to play piano. U2?s last album, How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, was released in 2004, but there is no word as to when their next record might be released.
NEW ARCTIC MONKEYS BASSIST BREAKS HAND
New Arctic Monkeys bassist Nick O'Malley has broken his hand just days after being enlisted to play in the band, according to Gigwise.com. Following a night out at a pub in the U.K., O'Malley reportedly got into some "drunken antics" with a member of the road crew for his main group, the Dodgems. Bandmate Phil Goodwin said, "As we were walking home from the pub, our roadie grabbed (O'Malley) and pulled him over our neighbor's wall. It's quite high and he landed on his right hand." O'Malley is right-handed and apparently had the hand wrapped, but was still able to play and join the Monkeys on their current North American trek.
HELMET TO RELEASE NEW CD
Helmet will release a new album on July 18th called Monochrome. Singer, guitarist and founder Page Hamilton has also assembled a new lineup of the band that features drummer Mike Jost and bassist Jeremy Chatelain in addition to himself and longtime guitarist Chris Traynor. Monochrome will follow up the band's 2004 effort, Size Matters, which was the first Helmet album since 1997's Aftertaste.
