ANGELS AND AIRWAVES DEBUT TOP 5
Angels And Airwaves entered this week's Billboard Top 200 album chart at Number Four with the band's debut album, We Don't Need To Whisper. The new project from former Blink-182 frontman Tom DeLonge sold 127,000 copies in its first week of release. DeLonge told LAUNCH that he feels Angels And Airwaves takes the music he made with Blink and brings it to a whole new level. "As an extension of what Blink was, a band that really made people feel good and funny, I kinda transformed that into something that made people feel really good, but from the inside out. Like an energy, more of like an electricity that's coming from in your soul, because I wanted to make a band about this spiritual awakening."
- DeLonge said that the band and album were influenced by several major events in his personal life, including the birth of his child and seeing his brother in the military get shipped off to Iraq.
- Angels And Airwaves also features members of the Offspring, Box Car Racer and the Distillers.
- Angels And Airwaves begins a co-headlining trek with Taking Back Sunday on June 22nd in Jackson, New Jersey.
