KORN SINGER HOSPITALIZED
Korn singer Jonathan Davis was hospitalized in the U.K. over the weekend, forcing the band to cancel two concerts and play a shortened set at a third show with vocalists from other bands. According to Blabbermouth.net, Davis was admitted to a London hospital with an undisclosed illness. The group played without him on Saturday (June 10th) at England's Download Festival, performing a 30-minute set with guest frontmen Jesse Hasek of 10 Years, Corey Taylor of Slipknot, M. Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold, Matt Heafy of Trivium and Dez Fafara of Devildriver. Korn then canceled appearances on Sunday (June 11th) at Ireland's Download Festival and Tuesday (June 13th) in Amsterdam, Holland. There was no word at press time on Davis' condition or what he was afflicted with, but he had reportedly been feeling ill for several days before being hospitalized.

SNOW PATROL VOCALIST STILL NOT ABLE TO SING?
Snow Patrol postponed shows in Pontiac, Michigan on Friday night (June 9th) and Chicago, Illinois on Saturday (June 10th), bringing the number of concerts the British group has missed in the last two weeks to nine. Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody has been attempting to bounce back from laryngitis caused by polyps on his vocal chords. According to an email by concert organizers, the Pontiac show was scrapped due to an "illness in the band," most likely meaning that Lightbody is still not ready to resume singing.

CURE ALBUMS TO BE REISSUED
MTV.com reports that double-disc reissues of Cure albums The Top, The Head on the Door and Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me will be on shelves on August 8th. The reissues will feature unreleased music, live performances and even home and studio demos. Additionally, a double-disc version of Blue Sunshine, the only album from Cure frontman Robert Smith?s side project, The Glove, will be released on the same day.

STROKES ASK FOR MERCY FROM VEDDER, HOMME
Marvin Gaye?s ?Mercy Mercy Me? might find new life with The Strokes. According to Billboard, the band has recorded a cover of the hit with the help of Pearl Jam?s Eddie Vedder and Queens of the Stone Age?s Josh Homme. The track is expected to be released in mid-July.

DEFTONES ALBUM PUSHED BACK
The Deftones have now reportedly set October 3rd as the release date for the band's long-awaited fifth album, according to various online sources, although neither the group's website nor its record label have confirmed the new date. Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter recently told LAUNCH that the CD, which has been in the making for two years, was nearly finished. "I wanna say it's sitting at that, like, 95 percentile, you know what I mean? The only reason I can't give you the 100 percent done on it is 'cause I haven't heard all the songs with all the vocals, you know. The vocals have been the last of what needs to be done, and as far as I know, Chino's (Moreno, singer) been working the vocals every day so far, so I mean, I just haven't heard the completed stuff."

  • A title for the new Deftones CD has yet to be determined, although a song called "Hole In The Earth" is the tentative first single.
  • Korn and the Deftones will begin the Family Values tour on July 27th in Virginia Beach, with Stone Sour, Flyleaf and Dir En Grey joining them on the main stage. Second stage acts have not been confirmed.

NINE INCH NAILS AND MARS VOLTA GUEST ON RAP ALBUM
Nine Inch Nails main man Trent Reznor and members of the Mars Volta will reportedly make guest appearances on a new album by rapper El-P, called I'll Sleep When You're Dead. According to ThePRP.com, Reznor will show up on a track called "Flyentology," while it is not certain to which song the Mars Volta members will contribute. El-P announced the involvement of both acts in a posting at his MySpace blog, with the album due for release later this year.
El-P recently remixed the Nine Inch Nails track "Only" for the band's Every Day Is Exactly The Same EP.
