QUICK HITS
Crossfade has been named Grand Marshalls for the NASCAR Ameriquest 300 Busch Race, scheduled for September 2nd at the California Speedway in Fontana, California. The race will air on TNT.

Saturday Night Live cast member Horatio Sanz is fighting reports that he's being fired from the show. The hefty comedian told the Chicago Sun-Times, "I haven't been approached with anything that's led me to believe I won't be back." Sanz hasn't signed a new contract with the SNL yet for the upcoming season but he thinks the stories about his dismissal came from an NBC exec who "leaked a bunch of bull." The fates of Kenan Thompson, Chris Parnell, Will Forte, and Maya Rudolph are up in the air as well.

The rumors are true -- Winona Ryder and Christian Slater are reuniting for a Heathers sequel. The actors played lovers/murderers in the 1989 black comedy and they'll reprise their roles with a twist. Ryder told Entertainment Weekly, "It takes place in Washington and Christian Slater agreed to come back and make an Obi-Wan-type appearance. It's very funny."

USA Network's quirky detective series Monk ends its fifth season tonight (August 25th) with a trip to a rock concert. IDLEWILD
A modern-day musical complete with rapping and dancing, Idlewild is the story of childhood friends in Prohibition-era Georgia who find themselves in the middle of gangster and girl troubles. Outkast's Big Boi plays Rooster, a family man and bootlegger who's the headliner at a speakeasy and takes charge of the venue when his boss is gunned down. His life is thrown for a loop when he falls for a new singer who has come to town under dubious circumstances. They discover that they're no match for the Beerfest regulars and return to the U.S. determined to assemble their own chugging squad for the next year's match. For a year, the brothers and their teammates -- a nerdy scientist, a food-eating champion, and a gay hustler -- hone their beerpong, quarters, and other drinking game skills. Beerfest is the latest effort by the guys behind Super Troopers and Club Dread, and is full of bodily functions, topless women, and drunks.

INVINCIBLE
Football diehards can get their gridiron fix before the season officially starts with Invincible, the real-life story of a 30-year-old unemployed teacher who wins a spot on the Philadelphia Eagles during an open tryout. Mark Wahlberg stars as the unlikely pro player, Vince Papale, and Greg Kinnear co-stars as Dick Vermeil, the now legendary NFL coach. Invincible was made in full cooperation with the NFL, so the uniforms, logos, team names, and game footage are authentic, as are the characters' '70s hairstyles and clothes.

FORMER BLINK-182 MEMBERS TO 'TELL THE TRUTH'

Ex-Blink-182 bassist Mark Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker have set a November 14th release date for When Your Heart Stops Beating, the debut album from their new band, Plus-44. According to MTV.com, the disc directly addresses last year's split with former Blink bandmate Tom DeLonge. Hoppus said, "Now that the record is done, we get the chance to tell the truth about everything...we couldn't put into words what we were doing, so we just decided not to say anything and let the music speak for itself. Now it's time for people to hear that music and hear the truth."

  • Hoppus added that the entire album is about "everything that's happened, including Blink, and the ugly feelings that were left over afterwards."
  • Barker said that DeLonge was primarily responsible for the demise of Blink-182, explaining, "We had a year's worth of touring planned, we were writing a record, and all of a sudden (Tom) just dropped the ball."
  • Songs on When Your Heart Stops Beating include the title track, which is also likely to be the first single, and "No It Isn't," which "absolutely" deals with the Blink situation, according to Hoppus.
  • Plus-44 plans to launch a North American tour in late October.
  • Barker recently filed for divorce from his wife, Shanna Moakler.
  • Tom DeLonge now leads his own band called Angels And Airwaves.

The first single, "Nausea," and an album track called "Strange Apparition" are both streaming at the site, while a video for "Nausea" is circulating at locations like YouTube.com. The new CD, titled The Information, is due out on October 3rd. As previously reported, the album cover will be blank, but the package will come with a set of stickers for fans to design their own covers.

  • A contest is reportedly being planned in which Beck will select the best fan cover design, with art gallery displays of some of the creations also in the works.
  • The Information will also include videos for all 15 tracks on the disc, including a clip for "Cell Phone's Dead" shot by Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind director Michel Gondry. A low-budget video for another tune, "I Think I'm In Love," recently surfaced on Beck's MySpace page.
  • Beck is slated to play at the U.S. version of the Download Festival on September 30th in San Francisco, with a fall tour scheduled to follow.

GNARLS BARKLEY: 'CRAZY' DEEPER THAN A PARTY SONG
Gnarls Barkley's debut single, "Crazy," has been the party song of the summer. But the duo's Cee-Lo Green told LAUNCH that the song itself actually has a message that's a bit deeper than its dancing fans may realize: "That song is written out of a great deal of humanity and humility. It pertains to a number of different things, because music in a number of ways is therapeutic for me, first, you know. So I get a chance to vent and I get a chance to make sense of the many things stirring around in my head and in my heart."

RIVERS DENIES WEEZER BREAKUP RUMORS
Weezer has denied speculation that the band is splitting up with a new posting at its official website. Although frontman Rivers Cuomo told MTV.com last month that the band "was done," the new message read, "A Public Service Announcement from the weez: We right here!...Now please, take those 'weezer split?' headlines and place them firmly into the 'Don't believe the hype' bin. And have yourself a fine afternoon now."

Cuomo, who got married and graduated from Harvard in June, also told MTV.com that he wasn't certain the band would "ever make a record again."
No future plans have been announced, although a live DVD and greatest hits collection are both reportedly in the works. Weezer's last album, Make Believe, came out in 2005. Cuomo was also the subject of an interview in the latest issue of Tricycle magazine, a publication dedicated to Buddhism and meditation.

New Found Glory will soon be coming around again. The band is releasing its fifth album next month, a record called Coming Home. Guitarist Chad Gilbert and singer Jordan Pundik say it?s real different. ?(Chad Gilbert) I think it?s good to have every song just kind of catch you off guard in a certain way where it takes you up and down throughout the whole record. (Jordan Pundik) And it?s cool how some songs end in a certain way and then the next one starts and it?s kind of like the same, almost like it?s continuing on.? New Found Glory?s album will be out on September 19th, and the band will be launching a tour on October 4th, in Covington, Kentucky.

AMY LEE GETS PERSONAL
It?s been the better part of a year since Evanescence singer Amy Lee and Seether frontman Shaun Morgan called it quits ? but their crumpled relationship is recalled in a song on the new Evanescence album that bears the attention-getting title, ?Call Me When You?re Sober.? And hey, says Lee, nothing personal. ?It?s been a really long time since I was in that world and in that relationship. I am not a vengeful person, I definitely want everybody to be happy and healthy. Honestly, the song, I said what I needed to say it so bad because it had been something that had been pressing me down for months, a really long time. It felt so good to say it and it was sort of like, ?Rrrrrr!? But at the same time it?s definitely not designed to hurt anyone. I couldn?t have been so affected by it and hurt by it if it wasn?t someone that I had originally loved.? Seether had to cancel a tour this month so Shaun Morgan could go into rehab. As for the new Evanescence album, it?s called The Open Door, and it?ll be out on October 3rd.

Holland wrote that the band took its time writing before heading into the studio, explaining, "We didn't want to rush into the studio just to record demos for the sake of doing something, so we've really taken our time getting the songs together first. Like, making sure the songs kick ass before we even try it in the studio...We've demoed five songs so far and I think it's the best stuff we've done in a long time."

As for the sound of the new material, Holland wrote, "I don't want to compare it to one of our other records or anything, but think guitar, lots of guitar, energy, lots of energy, and good songs." The Offspring's last album, Splinter, came out in 2003.

RADIOHEAD THINGS ABOUT BREAKING UP
Radiohead singer Thom Yorke told Pitchfork Media in an interview last week that the band thinks about breaking up often. When asked whether there were moments during the last two years whether the group thought about calling it a day, Yorke replied, "Yeah, we have them all the time. It'd be deeply unhealthy if it weren't like that. And that's not just instigated by me. Sometimes people just have enough -- they just can't deal with it anymore."
Yorke said that part of the problem was that the band didn't give itself a deadline to make the follow-up to its last album, 2003's Hail To The Thief. He explained, "We didn't have a structure. We didn't have a purpose...There's no reason for the band to get together, nobody who sat there and said, you know, 'We're doing this.' We spent a lot of time f***ing about in the studio and not going anywhere because...we didn't have to (finish a record)."

Radiohead did recently complete its first tour of North America and Europe in more than two years, and has been back at work on its next album. Yorke released his first solo effort, called The Eraser, last month. Radiohead does not have a record label at the moment, having finished out its contract with EMI on Hail To The Thief.

MYSPACE USERS HIT BY VIRUS
Computer experts warn viruses linked to MySpace are in circulation. Experts believe hackers have hit the site and say the viruses in circulation can change settings, delete files, secretly track users' movements online and even damage computers. They believe that the hackers have hidden dangerous software on the site which means that computers can be attacked unaware to users while they are just viewing pages. They say the viruses can be hidden in images. They've also seen pages that contain code to automatically spread viruses through MySpace's buddy system, which lets you add friends to your profile.

MySpace now accounts for 4.5 percent of all Internet traffic.

Make sure your anti-virus software is up to date. It's also good to have software that detects and deletes spyware...preferably more than one. Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware are a couple of good ones...and they're free. If you have AOL, it has a good bundle of anti-virus and anti-spyware software.

YOUTUBE TO BECOME A MUSIC VIDEO LIBRARY?

According to BBC, the popular Web site YouTube is in talks with record labels about making new and archived music videos available on their site. The label would like to have ?every music video ever created? on their site within the next 18 months. They plan to make the clips free of charge, like the footage that is currently available. The idea comes at a time when it is increasingly more difficult for artists and labels to keep content from leaking to the Web.

Korn's latest studio album, See You On The Other Side, is just 10 months old, but the band is already planning its follow-up. I mean, we're gonna write. It's when we have down time we go and write. But it's exciting and we like writing and keeping that going."

Korn released an archival collection, Live & Rare, in May.

Jackson is in the middle of it all as an F.B.I. agent transporting and protecting a mob witness on the reptile-laden flight. Five hundred live snakes were used to make the film, which got an R rating after filmmakers added more nudity, gore, and foul language to satisfy fan input.

BLUE OCTOBER KEEPS THEIR COOL
What?s the most challenging thing about spending half your life out on the road with a band? Well, apart from the grueling slog from one town to another, Blue October frontman Justin Furstenfeld says it?s the never-ending attempt to keep your head screwed on straight. ?I think a lot of musicians forget that they need to take care of themselves, that they need to stand up and go, ?Hold on!.? That need to take a breath for a second. There are a lot of people out there who are not just musicians but heavy thinkers and heavy weighers so like the little things weigh on them, every aspect of it. You have to keep your head straight or else you?re gonna just blow up. You?re gonna implode. You just need to relax and take in all these good things, because it is good things. Sometimes you just gotta go, ?Wake up, dude, enjoy this, it?s awesome!?? Blue October will be heading out on the road next month, starting at San Francisco?s Now And Zen festival on September 19th.

DAVE GROHL IS ?VILE.?

According to NME, Dave Grohl will turn up on the soundtrack for the film Rising Son: The Legend of Skateboarder Christian Hosoi. DELONGE WELOMES CHILD; MORE IMPORTANT THAN BLINK

Former Blink-182 guitarist Tom Delonge and his wife, Jennifer, have welcomed their second child on Wednesday (August 16) in Los Angeles, People reports. Jonas Rocket DeLonge weighed 7 lbs. 13 oz., and measured 20 1/2 inches. Delonge, who also has a 4-year-old daughter, Ava Elizabeth, acknowledges that one of the reasons he left Blink-182 is because he no longer wanted to tour as much as bandmates Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker did. But Delonge told LAUNCH that he has no regrets that his family became a greater priority than the band: "I found myself at a kind of crossroads in my life where I couldn't see myself doing this the same way I've been doing it with the Blink guys 'cause I was constantly compromising being with my family or just being the family man I wanted to be. I couldn't do it anymore. It just wasn't worth it to me."
Blink-182 announced its "indefinite hiatus" in 2005. Barker recorded a second album with his side band, the Transplants, before focusing on a new band with Hoppus, Plus 44. Their debut album, tentatively titled Little Death, is due out later this year.
Hoppus and Barker have criticized Delonge in recent interviews for trying to take control of Blink-182's affairs to accommodate his own agenda.
Delonge was on the road this year with his new band, Angels & Airwaves, promoting the group's debut album We Don't Need to Whisper.

GORILLAZ IN THE PARK LIFE
Before Damon Albarn created that animated supergroup Gorillaz, he used to front the massively popular Brit pop act Blur, and it appears that he?s going back to his roots a bit. Albarn will reveal his new band at the BBC?s Electric Proms festival in Camden, England in late October. The band still hasn?t revealed a name, but the record is titled The Good, The Bad and the Queen, and according to Albarn, it?s the ?follow-on record? to Blur?s Park Life. BBC reports that Albarn describes the album as ?a very English record. It?s the first time I?ve really written about home since Park Life.?

BECK GIVES YOU THE INFORMATION
The track-listing for Beck?s upcoming album, The Information, has been revealed. Billboard reports that the record contains 15 tracks, which is the most that Beck?s ever included on an album. The album comes out on October 3rd, the same day as The Killers? second album and Evanescence?s latest. Beck went down the same road as Thom Yorke, choosing producer Nigel Godrich for the project. Here are the tracks:

"Elevator Music""Think I'm In Love""Cell Phone's Dead""Nausea""Soldier Jane""Strange Apparition""Dark Star""Movie Theme""We Dance Alone""No Complaints""1000 BPM""Motorcade""The Information""New Round""Horrible Fanfare/Landslide/Exoskeleton"

CHRIS CORNELL TEAMS WITH LILLYWHITE
Famed U2 producer Steve Lillywhite will get behind the desk to produce Chris Cornell?s upcoming solo album. According to Billboard, the singer will release the album in early 2007. The former Soundgarden frontman plays double duty of course as Audioslave?s lead vocalist. Audioslave?s third album, Revelations, hits shelves on September 5th.

THE SOON TO BE MRS. KATE DOHERTY?
Now that supermodel Kate Moss and notorious rock and roll bad boy Pete Doherty have been photographed kissing all across London, it?s pretty safe to say that the two are back together, but are they thinking of tying the knot? U-K tabloids are reporting that Moss is wearing an engagement ring, and London paper The Sun reports that Pete has been telling friends how desperate he is to marry Kate.

KILLER CONCERTS
As Killers fans wait patiently for the release of the band?s new album Sam?s Town, they can ease their tension by catching the Las Vegas boys play. The band has announced two dates on their Web site. Brandon Flowers and company will be playing their hometown of Las Vegas on August 26th, and the V Festival in Baltimore on September 23rd. If you can?t catch the band at either of those dates, you can watch them perform at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards on August 31st at 7 PM.

The Arctic Monkeys have debuted their new video for the track ?Leave Before the Lights Come On? on their Web-site. The video is directed by John Hardwicke and features In America star Paddy Considine. You can catch the clip now over at ArcticMonkeys.com. ?Leave Before the Lights Come On? is off the Arctic Monkeys highly-successful debut album. They are currently on tour in Australia.

The video for Audioslave?s new single, ?Original Fire,? will premiere today on Yahoo! Music. The video is available at Music.Yahoo.com/Premieres and will pay tribute to music and cultural icons that have inspired the band. O?REILLY TO DISCUSS EVERCLEAR?S ?HATER?
Everclear?s controversial video for their latest track ?Hater? has stirred up so much controversy on the Internet that frontman Art Alexis will appear as a guest on Bill O?Reilly?s The O?Reilly Factor tonight to discuss the clip. The video features a fictional ?Hater Jesus? character and takes a sinful comedic look at those who hate in the name of religion. The band has also made an alternate video for the song, which takes a look at celebrity break-ups. ?Hater? is off Everclear?s upcoming album Welcome to the Drama Club, which will be in stores on September 12th. The O?Reilly Factor airs tonight at 7 PM on FOX News.

INXS SINGER HONORED IN FILM
INXS singer Michael Hutchence died in a hotel in Sydney, Australia back in 1997, and the events surrounding his death made world headlines. The singer died either of suicide or accidental death via autoerotic asphyxiation at the age of 37, and now some filmmakers would like to honor his memory by telling his story. Producer Clark Westerman and video director Nick Egan are working on a project called Slide Away, according to Reuters, which is a story about the man that Hutchence was, not the seedy details of his passing. Egan directed many of INXS? videos throughout their career. No word when the film will be released.

JOY DIVISON GET UNDER CONTROL
Famed photographer and video director Anton Corbijn is currently in England directing Control, a new film about the life of late Joy Division singer Ian Curtis. Rising star Harry Treadway plays Joy Division drummer Stephen Morris and he says that it?s the music that drew him to the part. ?I love them. It?s bizarre because I got into their music about a year and a half ago. It is just absolutely mind-blowing music. The fact that so many people, well, strangely a lot of people do, that I?ve been speaking to recently, do know about them but general people, a lot of people aren?t aware of them, and you say, ?Love Will Tear Us Apart,? and they go, ?Oh yeah.? But the 50 songs or whatever that they recorded are unbelievable and what they did by mixing the sort of Kraft Work influence with the late punk in England is complete genius.? Harry Treadway and his twin brother Luke currently star in Brothers of the Head, a fake documentary about the lives of Siamese twins that form a rock band in the ?70s. Brothers of the Head is in theatres now.

BREAKING BENJAMIN BECOMES PHOBIC TODAY
Breaking Benjamin releases its third album today (Tuesday, August 8th), called Phobia. The Pennsylvania-based group spent most of the last year working on the disc, and frontman Ben Burnley told LAUNCH that it was well worth the time and effort: "It seemed like there was no end to me finishing this thing, but I got it done. Everybody did a really good job and we had as good of a time as you possibly could have for doing a CD in a studio. And, you know, we just put our heart and soul into it and I put my heart and soul into it, and hopefully that'll translate to the listener." Phobia follows the band's platinum 2004 sophomore effort, We Are Not Alone. An acoustic version of the album's first single, "The Diary Of Jane," is included on all copies of the first pressing of Phobia and will be deleted immediately after the initial release.

TOOL FANS INJURED AT SAN DIEGO FESTIVAL
At least 15 fans were injured Saturday night (August 5th) at a Tool concert in San Diego, when the crowd rushed forward to see the band as they took the stage. The concert was the final act of an all-day outdoor music festival held in the parking lot of the Qualcomm Stadium.

The crowd had been getting increasingly excited before the show began, chanting the band's name and pressing forward. After Tool finally appeared, several people were trampled by the overeager crowd as it pushed forward. The band stopped playing for several minutes during their second song, at which point singer Maynard James Keenan asked the crowd to back up and to "mellow out," according to blabbermouth.net. A number of fans who had been injured by the crowd were taken by ambulance to area hospitals.

Some video footage of the event has been posted at NBCSanDiego.com.

WHATS THE 411 ON 311?S BREAK?
311?s last album, Don?t Tread on Me, was released last year, but fans may not be hearing new music from the band anytime soon. The band is still out on the road touring the 2005 record, but according to Billboard, they hope to take some time off when the cycle is over. So, is it personal issues within the band causing the break? Not really, according to frontman Nick Hexum. He said, ?It?s time for a step. I wouldn?t feel satisfied if our next album can be so closely compared to our last one. I think it?s time for a little bit of a break and a little time away from each other, not out of necessity but as a pre-emptive thing, before we get sick of it.? Hexum has also been working on some jazz standards, rock and pop things with Dryden Mitchell of Alien Ant Farm and singer Edie Brickell.

JOHNNY MARR IS NOW A MODEST MOUSE!
Although former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr was working with Modest Mouse on their upcoming album, no one expected that Marr would become a full-time mouse. According to Rolling Stone, the guitarist has become a full-on member of the band and will tour with them in support of their new record. The album is tentatively titled We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. Mouse frontman Issac Brock confirmed the addition saying, ?He made a cautious commitment to write and record with us, and then the tighter we got he was like, ?Okay let?s tour too.? Then he was pretty much a member of the band-not pretty much. He?s a full blown member of the band.?

NEEDTOBREATHE ARE ?HOMEGROWN.?
When you head over to South Carolina band NeedtoBreathe?s Website, NeedToBreathe.com, You?ll see that their tour dates come first before news, media or anything else. Their humble beginnings have taught the rock act that old-school touring is the only way to gain a real fan base. Singer Bear Rheinhart explains. "One that definitely describes us is ?homegrown.? We started making, doing our own artwork and our own promotion. We bought a van from our grand-dad for one dollar and we put a futon in the back that we bought at Wal-mart because it had no seats in the back and no A-C. And we traveled like that just for years really making a name for ourselves." Daylight, the debut album from NeedtoBreathe, is out now. They play Kansas City, Missiouri tonight.

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE GREEN DAY GUYS
My Chemical Romance will release their new album on October 24th and it looks like the guys were really inspired by Green Day. Rob Cavallo, longtime Green Day producer, worked with the band on the as-yet-untitled album and the band have also hired Sam Bayer to direct their first video. Bayer directed many of the videos off Green Day?s American Idiot album. My Chem are expected to perform some new material at San Diego?s Street Scene Festival this weekend.

NEW FOUND GLORY ARE COMING HOME
New Found Glory debuted their new video for ?It?s Not Your Fault? on TRL this week. ?It?s Not Your Fault? is the first single off their upcoming album, Coming Home, which?ll be released on September 19th. The band has announced a tour in support of the record and here are the Texas dates:

10/30 - Dallas, TX @ Ridglea Theatre
10/31 - Houston, TX @ Warehouse Live
11/1 - Austin, TX @ La Zona Rosa

NO DEPECHE MODE TONIGHT
Depeche Mode will not be performing tonight in Tel Aviv, Israel. The band cancelled what would have been their final show on their world tour due to the current situation in the Middle East. According to DepecheMode.com, the concert slated for Hayarkon Park will not be rescheduled and ?The band apologize to the fans, and thank them for their understanding.?

BLUE OCTOBER FITS MANY FORMATS
Do musical categories serve any real purpose? Well, as long as there are major differences between the works of, say, Mozart and the works of Good Charlotte, categories will obviously be helpful for the uninitiated. On the other hand, many musicians dislike having their music pigeonholed in narrower ways, Blue October frontman Justin Furstenfeld, for example. ?Music is music to me, it?s like we?re not a rock band, we?re not a pop band, we?re just a band that plays music. So the fact that the world has to have categories in the first place is like, ?Argh!? So put it on any station, put it in country, we don?t care." Blue October will be playing the Lollapalooza show in Chicago tomorrow. The band?s current album, Foiled, is ranked at number 38 on this week?s Billboard chart.

KORN ISSUES APOLOGY FOR FAMILY VALUES FAN KILLING
Korn and the rest of the bands on the Family Values tour have issued a joint statement regarding the death of a fan who was beaten by two men during the tour's stop in Atlanta on Sunday (July 30th). The statement read in part, "All the bands on the Family Values tour offer their sincerest condolences and prayers to the family of 30-year-old Andy Richardson...Korn are appalled at the actions of these men and are imploring anyone who witnessed this senseless act or has any information about the attack to please immediately come forward by contacting local authorities."

  • According to initial reports, Richardson was attacked by two unidentified men after he asked them to be careful around his pregnant girlfriend and a mentally challenged child accompanying them. A friend of Richardson described the attackers to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as "way too drunk."
  • One of the men punched Richardson in the head and knocked him head first onto the concrete floor, said eyewitnesses. The friend reported that Richardson was "unconscious" and "had blood all over his face."
  • Richardson, who never regained consciousness and was declared brain dead, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday (August 1st).
  • Atlanta police are reportedly investigating "people of interest" in the incident, although they have only a vague description of the suspects.
  • The Family Values tour, which also features Deftones, Stone Sour, 10 Years and others, arrives in Selma, Texas tomorrow night (Friday, August 4th).

ANI DiFRANCO PREGNANT

I was talking to Jera, host of 95X's Over The Edge, and she hadn't heard about this. I forgot to blog this story last week. Ani DiFranco announced she's pregnant. The 35-year-old singer said Friday she is due in February. The baby's father, Mike Napolitano, produced her upcoming album Reprieve.

Reprieve, a collection of a dozen songs and spoken-word pieces, will be released next month. It will be Difranco's 18th full-length album since her debut was released in 1990.

TRAGEDY STRIKES AT FAMILY VALUES SHOW
The Family Values Tour, which features Korn, Flyleaf and more, rolled into Atlanta, Georgia for a show on Sunday, but the night did not end well. A 30-year-old man was beaten to death in the mosh pit after asking two unidentified men to leave his pregnant wife and mentally challenged son alone. The victim, Andy Richardson, was declared dead at 2 PM yesterday. According to MTV News, the two men responsible for the attack have not been found as of yet, but the police continue to investigate.

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE RETURN IN OCTOBER
My Chemical Romance will release their much-anticipated third album on October 24th, according to Billboard. The band has pretty lofty goals for the as-yet-untitled album, with bassist Mikey Way saying, ?We want the entire world to be moved.? Green Day producer Rob Cavallo is working with the band on the record. My Chemical Romance will play San Diego?s Street Scene Festival this Sunday.

EVANESCENCE AREN?T AFRAID OF THE BIG BAD WOLF?
The first single off Evanescence?s new album, The Open Door, will be ?Call Me When You?re Sober,? and frontwoman Amy Lee spoke to MTV News all about the video for the song. Directed by Marc Webb, the clip features live, trained wolves and a ?Little Red Riding Hood? theme. The video features Lee being seduced by the ?Big Bad Wolf,? who is more like a cute guy with scruffy overgrown facial hair. To see if Amy can get the better of this wolfman, fans will have to wait until August 7th, when the video is released. The Open Door will hit shelves on October 3rd.

?AND WANT YOU TO ?CALL WHEN YOU?RE SOBER.?
Amy Lee?s former beau, Seether singer Shaun Morgan, was admitted to rehab this week. Ironically, Evanescence?s new single is titled ?Call Me When You?re Sober.? So, is this track about Morgan? Lee spoke to MTV News about the track saying it?s about ?something that everyone?s been through. Dealing with someone with an addiction, which is really hard, especially when you love someone.? Morgan was forced to cancel an upcoming tour with Seether to get the help he needed.

RED HOT ENERGY RUSH
After more than 20 years together, the Red Hot Chili Peppers seem still to be at or near the top of their game. Their latest album ? Stadium Arcadium ? has topped the Billboard chart and gone platinum, and bassist Flea offers a semi-mystical explanation for the record?s commercial strength. ?When it came time to make this record there was this huge wave of energy that was there for us and we were ready to ride it you know. Because at that we were capable of you know writing that best music we have ever written and really focusing in and getting down because we were ready to do it. It wasn?t hard, it was easy. You know we just have to be there and let it flow throw.? The Red Hot Chili Peppers will be playing Lollapalooza in Chicago on Friday. The band is also nominated for seven Video Music Awards this year. To see what they wind up taking home, tune in to the 2006 VMAS on Thursday, August 31st, at 7 PM.

MORE INFO COMING OUT ABOUT INCUBUS ALBUM
Incubus will release its sixth studio album, titled Light Grenades, on November 20th, according to MTV.com. Guitarist Mike Einziger said that the band just finished recording the CD a few days ago, calling it "a total mess...It sounds like 13 different bands playing 13 different songs. That's kind of how all our records sound. Every time we're about to start making a new album, I tell myself, 'OK, this one's going to be cohesive,' and it never happens...I think we just get bored if we have even two songs that sound alike." Light Grenades is the follow-up to 2004's A Crow Left of the Murder, which has sold more than 1.1 million copies.

BECK POSTS VIDEO FOR NEW SONG
Beck has posted a low-budget video for his new song, "I Think I'm In Love," online at his MySpace page, according to NME.com. The track is taken from Beck's upcoming new album, which the singer began working on at the same time as last year's Guero. A title and release date have yet to be announced, although the disc is expected to surface this fall. Beck says he wrote 40 songs for the new album and has been cutting that list down to the final track selections. Beck also recently revealed that he is working on a 10th anniversary edition of his Odelay album.

THE RACONTEURS GO LIVE AT THE VMAS
Jack White?s new band, The Raconteurs, will have a very special job at the upcoming MTV VMAs. They will be the first ever band to score a live soundtrack for the event, which will take place at Radio City Music Hall on August 31st in New York City. This means that the band will be playing live throughout the entire show. Broken Boy Soldiers is the latest album from The Raconteurs and it?s in stores now. They play Lollapalooza at Chicago?s Grant Park on Friday.

BACH TAKES OVER FOR AXL
British music news site NME.com is reporting that Axl Rose had to leave the stage during Guns N? Roses? final U-K concert on Sunday night due to an unspecified illness. Replacing the singer on vocals for the final two songs was none other than SuperGroup star and former Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach. And it was probably a fitting replacement, because as Bach tells us, he knows a thing or two about how to front a band. ?When people say you guys got big egos well you?ve gotta have a big ego to be the lead singer of a rock band. I mean if you don?t have a big ego you can?t do that.? If you log onto YouTube.com and search for ?Sebastian Bach,? you will find a video of Bach singing ?Paradise City? during the fateful Sunday night show at London?s Wembley Arena.

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS LEAD VMA NOMINATIONS
The Red Hot Chili Peppers lead the nominations for the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards with seven, tying them with Latin singer Shakira. Also landing multiple nods is Panic! At The Disco, which garnered five nominations.

STONE SOUR ALBUM HITS STORES
Stone Sour releases its second album, called Come What(ever) May, today (Tuesday, August 1st). The CD is the successor to Stone Sour's 2002 self-titled debut, which featured the hit "Bother." Singer Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim Root are also both members of Slipknot, and Root told LAUNCH that it's important for them to progress musically in both bands: "You have to evolve, I mean, and if you don't, then you just end up putting the same record out over and over and over again, and to me that's very boring. I can't imagine any musician who wants to just keep writing the same thing over and over again, and that's something, fortunately, in the career that I've had so far, we've been able to do.
