Beer Manufacturers’ Campaign Promotes Excessive Drinking Under the Guise of
Making St. Patrick’s Day a National Holiday
My Hunt and Peck won't get the job done in a good way. I cut my "pinkie" really bad and cannot use the keyboard that well. Got to wait for another two weeks. As for the rest of this month, I will be at Lee High School Feb. 26-27, and then at Stanton High School on February 28-29 for "Shattered Dreams".

There is an increased concern in some regions that say community-based addiction treatment could help trim growing prison expenses. It may be that here in Midland, we are looking down the same path with our newly established "Drug Court".
I hear it all the time, "But there is a health benefit from a glass of red wine a day." I see and hear people all the time attempting to reduce cardiovascular conditions by drinking red wine. Cutting out the high fat diet and adding some exercise to the daily routine is the real thing that works.
Some wine producers of the California vinyards are increasing the alcohol content in their products. It used to be that 12 percent alcohol content in wine was the norm. Then, over time, that increased to 14 percent, and is now (since the past three years) approaching 16 percent alcohol.
A special "brew" may be in the making. Seems an item called xanthohumol, rich in antioxidants, has been found and is added to beer. This ingredient is known to fight a cancer causing enzyme called, cytochrome P-4
Currently, beer drinkers would have to down 60 beers at one setting to ingest a clinically effective amount of this cancer fighting substance to be effective.
Let's face it! Our youth and young adults aren't as healthy as our forefathers were when they were in their 20s and 30s. We have an abundance of Junk-Fast food, and ready made meals which lack the nutrients of meals typically cooked by grandmas from older generations.
