The Midland Mad Dogs began training September 16th for the Texas Rugby Union Division III season. The Mad Dogs will start the season November 8th with a home game against the Dallas Reds.
Once again the Mad Dogs will face stiff opposition this season in teams like Fort Worth, Dallas Reds and the UT Grads.
The Midland Mad Dog Rugby 7's squad finished a respectable 6th out of 26 teams in the inaugural TOLA Sevens Series this summer.
The TOLA series brought rugby 7's teams together from Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. The Mad Dogs will be looking for an even higher finish next year.
The great thing about being a rugby fan is there is no off season. There is always a tournament being played somewhere in the world.Currently the Tri-Nations tournament is being played between Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
The Midland Mad Dog Rugby 7s squad travel to Highland Park in Dallas this week-end to compete in the Lonestar Classic 7s tournament. The Mad Dogs came second to Texas Tech last week-end in the Los Perros De Mayo Tournament.
Coach Cash Pullin will be hoping that the return of Ernest Carrasco to the squad will work in his favor this week-end.
The Midland Mad Dogs will host a Rugby 7's tournament on Saturday May 31st 2008. The venue for the tournament will be Hogan Park Soccer Complex at the corner of N. Lamesa Road and Loop 250, in Midland.
7's rugby is a fast exciting version of the game. The general public is invited to come out and watch a great spectator sport.
This years 15's season was a disappointment for the Midland Mad Dogs. A combination of factors meant the Mad Dogs did not progress to the Texas Rugby Union Division III Finals.
The Midland Mad Dogs travel to San Antonio, Saturday March 29th to play against Corpus Christi in the Texas Rugby Union Division III competition.
