diving in the society islands

This is a photograph of photographer John Jonietz as he swims around on the island of Bora-Bora. We were part of the Fata-Hiva expedition in the South Pacific when I shot this image. We followed 5 or 6 scientist around as they collected plant, animal and insect life of the French Polynesian islands from the Marquesas islands, to the Tuamotu Archipelago and on to the Tahitian islands.
